Change is good, the more pronounced the better, because wardrobes suddenly look dated, which gives us a reason to buy new clothes. This season there were apparent shifts; from the voluminous styles of recent collections to close-to-the body silhouettes, dresses and separates, strong jewel-tone colors, and the return of the jacket after an absence of many seasons, give our customers a reason to buy. Sexy pencil skirts have a whole new look when paired with secretary blouses and jackets - it becomes modern and fresh. Other trends in the market are "layered knits, fitted jackets, pencil skirts and dresses with an emphasis on the waist or sheath dresses". Some of the highlights from fashion week were Proenza Schouler for their use of bold colors and folding techniques, Marchesa was the queen of eveningwear done in a modern and glamorous way, Michael Kors for his use of color, texture, and styling all came together in sophisticated and ladylike way, and finally Alexander Wang for his innate pulse on the urban girl.
